Description
Our Rhyming Clip Cards activity helps children work on their early literacy and rhyming skills! Rhyming teaches children how language works. As they make rhymes, they notice sounds within the words. The ability to recognize and produce rhyming words is an important phonological awareness skill and a great building block to reading. This activity is great for preschool, prek, and kindergarten at home or in school.

- 40 rhyming cards with labels (includes CVC rhymes and more difficult rhymes)
- 40 rhyming cards without labels (includes CVC rhymes and more difficult rhymes)
Children will say the name of the focus picture in the middle of a card while listening carefully to its sounds. They will then look at the 3 pictures in a row below the focus picture and say their names. Using a clothespin, they’ll clip the picture that rhymes with the focus word. For example, for the can picture card, I would say ‘fan, tub, bug’ – I would then clip the fan because it rhymes with can.
The prep is easy! Simply print this activity, laminate and cut out the cards. Then grab some clothespins and you’re ready to rhyme!
