Children cannot get enough of our fun dinosaur activities! This is such a fun theme to celebrate each February. Since it is also cold and snowy outside, we’re taking advantage and doing fun indoor activities. If you loved our Watercolor Snow Painting activity, you’ll love this Dinosaur Excavation Sensory Bin! We buried toy dinosaurs in snow. Our children then become Paleontologists and got to excavate the dinosaurs! It was so much fun!

Here’s what you need for the Dinosaur Excavation Sensory Bin
- Plastic Sensory Bin filled with snow
- Toy Dinosaurs
- Spoons or other Excavation Tools
What to Do:
Fill the sensory bin with snow and bury the toy dinosaurs. Gather large spoons or other excavation tools you’d like to use. Enjoy!
It was so fun to hear the children’s excitement each time they found a dinosaur! I heard things from ‘I found a dinosaur, yes!’ to ‘there are dinosaurs in here…weird!’. We will definitely be doing this activity again. It was so easy and fun! Let us know if you try it with your children and what they think. We’d love to hear from you!
