Our CVC Short A Sentences – Beginning Reading and Phonemic Awareness activity helps children work on pronouncing CVC words. This activity helps to build children’s confidence with early literacy skills. We also include pictures for each sentence to help with reading.

This product includes:
- 13 pages total
- 5 reading passages in color
- 5 reading passages in black & white (to be used as a worksheet)
The sentences focus on the following CVC short a words:
- ag: bag, gag, rag, tag, wag, flag (not CVC)
- am: ham, jam, ram, yam
- an: can, fan, man, pan, van
- ap: cap, gap, lap, nap, rap
- at: bat, cat, hat, mat, rat
There are 2 different options for completing these reading sentences. For each sentence your child reads, they can color a circle at the bottom. The sentences will be read only one time for this option.
Option 2 is for each sentence to be read once before one circle is colored in. The second time all of the passages are read, the second circle gets colored. Each sentences will be read 6 times before the page is complete.
The prep is easy! Simply print this activity in color and either laminate or put into page protectors. Or print the black and white version to use as a worksheet.

Fantastic! Simple enough that my child will read it. We use coloured counters to keep track with our fingers. Addition of diagraphs and actual sentences. He didn’t know what a yam was, so he had to read the word!
